Promotion of Library Automation and Networking in North East Region (PLANNER) is a special initiative taken up by Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) to bring awareness among library professionals in the field of information technology and its application to library service in the last four years. After the overwhelming response and success of earlier four PLANNERs, INFLIBNET is organising its sixth event PLANNER-2008 at Nagaland University, Dimapur, Nagaland during the November 6-7, 2008. This event has become popular not only in north-east but also for professionals from rest of parts and neighboring countries .
OBJECTIVES
- To create an information and knowledge-based society through knowledge powerhouse and a hub of the global information system
- To develop standards, content development, management and open access system
- Empowers users through a network of information and knowledge centres acting as flagships for accessing required information
- To develop digital library collection at nationally and internationally embracing the global knowledge and creativity for the heritage of intellectual property will be globally available in digital form
- Value added content and universal connectivity will ensure that every individual will have the opportunity for accessing global information and knowledge
- To explore the issues involved in web based systems and their usefulness to the users.
