The University Library has been functioning on a separate premise adjacent to the faculty buildings in the centre of the institution since 1998. The library has procured 83613 books as of today, of which approximately 6380 are reference and general nature. The University has about 5000 gifted books. Apart from the printed books, the University Library also procured 17314 e-books which are perpetually accessible in nature from Tritech, WT, Bibliotex, Taylor & Francis, Brill, Vidya and Bhasa suppliers. The University Library also subscribes to 7 International Journals and 130 National Print Journals and some of them are free. There is a separate cell at the Department of Mass communication and Journalism building to facilitate for internet browsing for students, research scholars and faculty members. The library has facilities to browse and access more than 15000 e-journals full text online through Shodhsindhu Digital Library consortium, Developing Library Network (DELNET) the major Digital Library Resource in South Asia and DeLCoN under DBT and NDLI extended to the readers.
Besides, the University Library is also subscribing EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS) platform, EPWRF and other databases. For the quick search and availability of books, the University library has Web OPAC, (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility which can be accessed through http://opac.rgu.ac.in. In addition to these, there is separate section for display of Text-Books, current Periodicals, 758 numbers of dissertations and 840 numbers of theses, out of these, 645 Ph.D theses have been uploaded under ETD Shodhganga Project. At present, after 2016, Rajiv Gandhi University has signed MoU with INFLIBNET Centre for anti-plagiarism software (Urkund) under Shodh-shudhi for checking plagiarism of M.Phil, Ph.D. theses, dissertations, synopsis and research projects. The University Library has also subscribed i–Thenticate (Turnitin) checking plagiarism since session 2020-21, very soon e-Shodh Shuddhi (Drillbrit) will be used to check the plagiarism. Apart from the above the Rajiv Gandhi University, Central Library has also started the IR (Institutional Repository) which inaugurated its portal (http://rguir.inflibnet.ac.in) on 20th May 2021. The library has subscribed to IEEE CSDL for its users. The library has implemented a Smart Card RFID system for check-in and check-out through the KIOSK system. There are 2500 users of the library who have extended their facilities for academic purposes. There are 25 rare books from Arunachal Pradesh available in the University library. The users of the Library are under CCTV Camera Surveillance in order to detect any untoward activities by the users in the library. The usability statistics for the use of e-recourse under UGC-INFONET (eSS) are quite satisfactory. With the growing resources, library has a remarkable an infrastructural development, wherein a multipurpose room has been constructed on the ground floor of the Central Library, moreover, considering the growth of resource a new building of the library is under construction and certainly the construction will be completed soon.
