Valedictory Session
Mr HG Hosamoni explains the purpose of the meeting. Prior to his deliberation, mementos were presented from INFLIBNET Center to Prof N Lahkar, Prof AS Chandel, Mr MN Borah and Mr SC Roy as a mark of gratitude for their help and cooperation for the organization of this 5th convention of PLANNER 2007 at Gauhati University.
Prof AS Chandel, Seminar Director expresses his satisfaction on the quality of the papers presented in the seminar. Prof Chandel hopes that the deliberation during the two day seminar will guide our professionals for taking up the challenges that the modern libraries are encountering due to rapid growth of knowledge in diverse directions.
Mr MN Borah, the Rapporteur General presented the seminar proceedings in details.
Prof Narendra Lahkar has discussed on different aspects of organization of the event and expressed his gratitude for the cooperation he has received from all corners including the Director Dr Arora and other INFLIBNET officials and also from the conveners and members of different sub committees.
Mr SC Roy speaking as Guest of honour of the session identified the responsibilities that the librarians of to day are to shoulder in order to keep abreast on the changing situation. Sri Roy also suggest specially to the college librarian to be sincere and hard working in order attract library users towards the use of library resources.
The session is marked with the release of the Assamese version of SOUL Manual in CD Form translated by Dr Dilip Kalita and Prof Narendra Lahkar. It may be mentioned that the INFLIBNET Center had assigned the job of translating the manual to them earlier
Dr Jagdish Arora while expressing his satisfaction on the way the convention is organized called upon the library professionals to avail the opportunities extended by different bodies including the INFLIBNET Center in order to develop the libraries in the region
Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, Asst Organizing Secretary of the Convention proposes vote of thanks.
